The library of the city shall be known as “The Wamego Public Library”. The Mayor with the approval of the governing body is hereby authorized to appoint a Library Board for the operation and maintenance of such library as provided for by K.S.A. 12-1218 through 12-1230 and all acts mandatory or supplemental thereto; and the Board so appointed is authorized to continue the maintenance of the library in accordance with provisions of the laws applicable thereto. The Mayor shall be ex officio member of the Library Board with the same powers as the appointed members but no person holding any office in the city shall be appointed a member while holding such office.
