Members of the city’s Fire Department, designated as firefighters, shall be residents of the city or persons residing within five miles of the city, unless approved by the City Manager. No person shall be appointed a city firefighter unless he or she is of good health and sound in mind and body. A membership policy is voted on by the Chief and members and approved by the City Manager.
