The City Manager shall appoint a Chief of the Fire Department, and all members of the Department including the Chief shall elect up to three Assistant Chiefs of the Fire Department and make appointments of such other firefighters of the city, with approval of City Manager. The City Manager may designate two members of the Fire Department as fire inspectors, upon the recommendation of the Chief of the Fire Department. The members of the Fire Department shall have such duties as shall be prescribed by the ordinances of the city, and shall receive compensation as approved by the governing body.
