For the purpose of this article, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
JOURNEYMAN PLUMBER. A person who holds a legal certificate issued pursuant to law showing him or her to be qualified to do plumbing work under the direction and control of a qualified master plumber.
MASTER PLUMBER. A person who is qualified, certified and equipped to properly lay out, plan, install, repair and maintain plumbing.
PLUMBING. The installation, alteration, repair, relocation, replacement, addition to and maintenance of plumbing system, defined as water supply and distribution pipes; plumbing fixtures and traps, water treating or water using equipment, soil, waste and vent pipes, sanitary and storm sewers, building drains, in addition to their respective connections, devices and appurtenances within a structure or premises, except for exterior irrigation systems installed beyond a backflow prevention device, where required by city code.
PLUMBING CONTRACTOR. Any person, firm or corporation who is qualified or employs master plumbers who are qualified to serve the public in the business of plumbing, and who maintains a place of business.
