242.29   AUXILIARY POLICE UNIT.
   (a)   There is hereby established an Auxiliary Police Unit within the Police Department which consists of one Auxiliary Police Sergeant and up to eight Auxiliary Police Officers. The Police Chief shall appoint the members of the Auxiliary Police Unit, including the designation for the Auxiliary Police Sergeant, and the Police Chief shall be the executive head of the Auxiliary Police Unit.
   (b)   The Police Chief, or their designee, shall be responsible for scheduling and the work assignments to members of the Auxiliary Police Unit.
   (c)   Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall follow all classified orders of the Police Department, and shall be under the immediate authority of the Police Department shift supervisor.
   (d)   Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall only wear their Auxiliary Police Unit uniform during the time they are working as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Village, including to and from their work shift.
   (e)   Auxiliary Police Officers shall be compensated pursuant to Chapter 260 of these Codified Ordinances. They are not eligible to participate in the Police and Fireman's Disability and Pension Fund; shall not be in the classified service of the Village; and shall participate in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
   (f)   Auxiliary Police Officers shall not work in place of or perform the same assigned duties of regular Police Officers of the Police Department.
