1630.08   SPRINKLER SYSTEMS.
   (a)   A limited area sprinkler system of any approved type shall be installed in storage and workshop areas in all portions of use group "A" (Assembly), "B" (Business), "I" (Institutional), "M" (Mercantile) or "RI" and "R2" (Residential hotels and multifamily) occupied for storage, workshop, scrub room or similar purposes. (References are to Ohio Building Code.)
   (b)   In all storage areas where a domestic water supply is used to supply the automatic sprinkler system and where more than four sprinkler heads are installed, a water flow valve along with a visual audible device installed per the specifications of the Fire Prevention Bureau. Where more than 19 heads are supplied off of one supply line, either a domestic water supply line or a fire line, the system shall be monitored by an approved alarm monitoring service.
   (c)   In reference to division (a) of this section, a variance may be granted by the Village Fire Safety Officer or Fire Chief, to install a monitored automatic fire detection system throughout the building in lieu of a sprinkler system. Division (b) of this section shall apply if an outside horn/strobe unit or monitoring by an approved alarm monitoring service.
