Pursuant to Ohio R.C. 731.231, there is hereby adopted by the Village that certain electrical code known as the National Electrical Code, being the 2008 edition thereof, recommended by the National Fire Protection Association, and the whole thereof, as if fully set out herein, save and except such portions as may be hereinafter deleted, modified or amended and except such provisions as are expressly provided for by Part Fourteen of the Codified Ordinances or by other ordinances of the Village. Notwithstanding the adoption of said 2008 edition of the National Electrical Code, effective April 1, 2008, and pursuant to a certain executive order issued by the Governor of the State of Ohio, a contractor may elect to use the 2005 edition of the National Electrical Code for any residential structure by filing said request in a form approved by the Building Inspector at the time of securing a permit. If said election is made as specified hereunder, said contractor’s project shall be subject to the provisions of the 2005 edition of the National Electrical Code rather than the 2008 edition of the National Electrical Code.
