(a) For all courses required to attain an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement for Police Department personnel and for such other courses as are approved by the Mayor and the Police Chief for full-time safety force members, the Village will reimburse a full-time safety force member for the costs of such courses, including application, tuition, fees and the cost of books necessary to complete such courses.
(b) The following enumerated conditions and requirements are hereby established as conditions precedent to the reimbursement for approved educational courses:
(1) Full-time Department members shall have completed one year of service in the Department before they will be entitled to reimbursement for approved educational courses under this section.
(2) For cost reimbursement, a minimum grade of C or its equivalent is required.
(3) Reimbursement will be paid only upon the completion of the approved courses and upon submission, to the satisfaction of the Mayor and the Chief, of the school transcript or other competent evidence that the courses were successfully completed.
(4) Receipts for tuition, fees and the cost of books and related materials necessary for course completion shall be presented and documented before payment.
(5) Courses and subjects taken shall not interfere with scheduled duty assignments.
