242.13   VACATIONS FOR FULL-TIME OFFICERS.
   (a)   Effective January 1, 2013, all full-time police officers who have completed one year of Village service or more as of December 31 of any given year shall be entitled to vacation in the subsequent year based on the following full years of service as of December 31:
      1 to 3 years of service - 80 hours of vacation;
      4 to 8 years of service - 120 hours of vacation;
      9 to 13 years of service - 160 hours of vacation;
      14 years of service or more - 200 hours of vacation.
   (b)   Any full-time police officer that has accumulated 19 years of service or more to the Police Department as a full-time police officer as of January 1, 2013 shall be entitled to vacation in the subsequent year based on the following years of service as of December 31:
      1 to 3 years of service - 80 hours of vacation;
      4 to 8 years of service - 120 hours of vacation;
      9 to 13 years of service - 160 hours of vacation;
      14 to 23 years of service - 200 hours of vacation;
      24 years of service or more - 240 hours of vacation.
   (c)   The first year of any full-time police officers employment shall be construed to be that time period from the officer's date of hire to December 31 of the same year. Thereafter, each year shall be from January 1 to December 31.
   (d)   Vacation time earned during the first year of employment shall be prorated, based on the amount of vacation contained in division (a) above to reflect service time from the date of full-time employment to December 31 of the first year. Vacation time earned during the final calendar year of full-time employment shall be prorated, based on the amount of vacation contained in divisions (a) and (b) above to reflect service time from January 1 to the final date of full-time employment.
   (e)   Full-time police officers who have been employed by the Police Department for more than one year may carry over a maximum of 40 hours vacation credit to the next fiscal year. Excess vacation time over 40 hours shall be paid as of the last full pay period in December of the current year, at the then-effective hourly rate of pay for that police officer.
   (f)   A full-time police officer who is reemployed or rehired in the same position by the Village upon retirement will not be paid for any earned and unused accumulated vacation. The police officer will continue to accrue vacation and retain his or her unused accumulated vacation time and continue to earn vacation based on division (a) above.
   (g)   Full-time police officers terminating employment due to voluntary resignation or retirement shall be paid all earned and unused accumulated vacation time.
   (h)   In the case of death of any full-time police officer, the earned and unused accumulated vacation time shall be paid to the employee's estate.
