(a) The Mayor shall act as the Safety Director for the Village commencing when they take office as Mayor.
(b) The Safety Director shall be the executive head of the Police and Fire Departments, or the provision of those services by contract or otherwise. The Safety Director shall be the Chief Administrative authority of the Building and Service Departments. The Safety Director shall have all powers and duties connected with and incident to the appointment, regulation, and government of such departments except as otherwise provided by law.
(c) The Safety Director shall receive salaried compensation of seven thousand dollars ($7,000) per year, plus annual salary adjustments in accordance with Ordinance 2002-21 passed September 3, 2002.
