§ 30.070 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   BOARD OF TRUSTEES or BOARD. The Board of Trustees of the employee retirement system of the city, as created by this subchapter.
   ELECTED OFFICIAL. Any officer duly elected by the citizens of the city.
   EMPLOYEE.
      (1)   Any official or employee of any department of the city, whether governmental or proprietary in nature, whose employment is of a permanent nature; provided that elected officials are specifically excluded from the definition of EMPLOYEE, and provided further that members of the Police and Fire Departments who are covered by other pension and retirement systems, and seasonal and part-time employees, are specifically excluded from the definition of EMPLOYEE.
      (2)   Any person classified as a temporary employee, after serving 12 consecutive months in the employ of the city, shall be included in the definition of EMPLOYEE.
   RETIREMENT SYSTEM or SYSTEM. The employee retirement system of the city, as created by this subchapter.
