(A) Application and forms. All forms required by this section shall be made available in the office of the Building Commissioner and shall be kept on file in that office. Every application for registration or renewal thereof, as required by this section, shall be filed with the office of the Building Commissioner. Such registrations shall be reviewed by the Building Commissioner as to their content and applicability and shall be reviewed on an annual basis.
(B) Term of registration. All registrations received under this section shall be for a term of one year commencing on the date of issuance.
(C) Proof of worker’s compensation coverage. Applicants must provide written proof of worker’s compensation coverage, such as a certificate of insurance, at the time of making application if they have any employees.
(D) Surety bond. Each applicant for registration must also provide a surety bond payable to the Town in the penal sum of $5,000, conditioned upon faithful compliance with the provisions of the Building Code as it relates to work performed by the applicant, and agreeing to pay all damages, costs and expenses caused by the applicant through failure to comply with such provisions. Said surety bond, as approved by the Building Commissioner, shall also be conditioned to reimburse the Town for all damages caused by any act or omission of the contractor or any of his or her agents to any property which the Town may own or for which it may be responsible, and to hold the Town free and harmless from claims for damages on account of negligence of misfeasance or malfeasance of the contractor and from all cost and expenses growing out of the defense of these claims.
