§ 30.008 TOWN COURT.
   (A)   There is hereby created, effective 1-1-1984, the Town Court, which court shall be vested with all of the powers and duties prescribed for such Town courts under applicable state statutes.

   (B)   Election of a Judge for the Town Court shall first be held in the 11-8-1983 municipal election and then in the municipal election every fourth year after 1983.

   (C)   The Office of the Town Court Judge shall be a four-year term, beginning 1-1-1984 until 12-31-1987.

   (D)   (1)   Said Judge must be an attorney in good standing admitted to the practice of law in Indiana and be at least 18 years of age.

      (2)   Any Town Judge who is serving 6-30-2015, who is not an attorney, may serve as judge until:
         (a)   He or she completes his or her term; and
         (b)   Continue to serve consecutive terms.
   (E)   It shall be the duty of the Town Council to include in its annual budget of the Town each and every year, funds for bond, supplies and necessary expenses of the office, and the Judge shall receive such compensation as may be prescribed by the Town Council.
