§ 30.002 ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
   (A)   Candidates for the office of Town Council shall reside in the ward in which they are nominated and elected be a citizen of the United States and be of legal voting age.
   (B)   Each Town Council member shall be elected by a vote of all of the voters in the Town, but shall represent the ward from which he or she runs.
   (C)   Each candidate shall, prior to taking office, take and subscribe to the usual oath or affirmation for the faithful performance of the duties of his or her respective office.
   (D)   The election of a President and a Vice-President shall be done at each annual meeting of the Town Council.
   (E)   A Town Council member may move his or her residence from the ward of election to another ward without vacating his or her seat; but such Town Council member shall not be eligible for re-election from the ward in which he or she no longer resides.
   (F)   A Town Council member who moves his or her place of residence outside the corporate limits of the Town vacates his or her seat on the Town Council and shall be replaced according to the applicable state statutes.
   (G)   A Town Council member who fails to attend three consecutive regularly scheduled meetings or six regularly scheduled meetings in any calendar year may have his or her office declared vacant by a majority vote of the Town Council and shall be replaced according to applicable state statutes.
   (H)   (1)   The terms of office of the Town Council members to be elected on 11-8-1983 shall be as follows: two Town Council members elected to the Town Council receiving the fewest amount of votes at said election in 1983 shall serve a term of three years beginning 1-1-1984 while the three Town Council members elected with the higher amount of votes shall serve for a term of four years beginning 1-1-1984.
      (2)   The Town Council members elected on 11-8-1983 shall serve the terms designated in division (H)(1) above on 1-1-1984. The successors to the Town Council members serving the initial term of three years shall be elected at a Town election to be held on 11-4-1986, and shall serve for a term of four years.
   (I)   All successor Town Council members elected after the 11-8-1983 election shall serve four-year terms.
   (J)   A retiring member of the Town Council shall be entitled to retain the laptop computer issued to them in recognition of their service on the Town Council.
