If the person receiving notice fails to comply with an order under Section 57.04 or with the Council’s decision under Section 57.05, the Police Chief shall seize and impound the animal. An animal so seized shall be impounded for a period of seven days. If at the end of the impoundment period, the person against whom the order to remove was issued has not petitioned the Iowa District Court for Scott County for review of said order, the Police Chief shall cause the animal to be disposed of by sale, by permanent placement with a person, organization, or group authorized to possess dangerous animals under Section 57.02, or by destruction in a humane manner.
