(a) All full-time Village employees, including full-time salaried police officers, shall be paid overtime pursuant to the requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act, as amended, at the time the compensable work was performed. All full-time employees, except full-time salaried police officers, shall receive overtime pay at the rate of one and one-half times their regular hourly rate for all compensable time in excess of eight (8) hours per day and/or forty (40) hours per week. All full-time salaried police officers shall earn compensation time in excess of eighty-six hours per fourteen day pay period, pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act.
(b) All full-time hourly employees, including full-time salaried police officers, may elect to accept time off (compensation time) in lieu of monetary compensation for hour works beyond their regularly scheduled work period. Compensation time will accrue at the rate of one and one-half hours for each overtime hour worked. Each employee is responsible for informing the Fiscal Officer at the end of each pay period whether the eligible hours are to be paid overtime or credited as compensation time. No employee shall accumulate more than eighty (80) hours of compensation time (as set forth in subsection (a) above) in any calendar year. Employees will be paid at a rate of one and one-half hours for each overtime hour worked after the eighty hours of compensation time has been accrued. Employees must request scheduling of compensation time taken and receive approval of his or her supervisor.
