139.01 QUALIFICATIONS OF POLICE OFFICERS.
   As a sworn peace officer certified by the State of Ohio in accordance with the requirements specified in the Ohio Revised Code, a Waite Hill police officer shall be required to have the following qualifications in order to perform his/her essential job duties and responsibilities:
   (a)    Have Ohio Peace Officer Certification as required by the Ohio Revised Code, or be willing to attain certification within the time required by The Ohio Peace Officers Training Council;
   (b)     Have a high level of physical capacity and fitness sufficient to engage and endure strenuous physical activities involving but not limited to lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, walking, jogging, running, and for long periods of sitting and standing;
   (c)    Have weight proportional to height and build;
   (d)    Have firearms proficiency as required by mandated training by the State of Ohio and The Ohio Peace Officers Training Council;
   (e)    Possess reasonable mental capabilities commensurate with police work such as the ability to make quick decisions concerning the protection of life and property;
   (f)    Have an Ohio driver's license with a good driving record. He/she shall have no more than two (2) three (3) point moving violations over a three (3) year period. Any more than six (6) points amassed in a five (5) year period shall be grounds for disqualification from eligibility or dismissal from the department; and
   (g)    Have successfully completed the required probationary period of twelve (12) months. (Ord. 1998-8. Passed 2-9-98.)
