The City Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector shall enforce all laws relating to the installation of plumbing and mechanical systems and connections thereto. When acting in good faith and without malice in the scope of his or her official duties, he or she shall not himself or herself be held personally liable for any damage that may accrue to persons or property as the result of any act required by him or her or by reason of any act, or omission in the discharge of his or her duties. He or she shall, in the discharge of his or her official duties, and upon proper identification, have authority to enter into any building, structure or premise at any reasonable hour. He or she shall perform such other duties and issue any permits that the Mayor and Council may direct. The Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector may be removed at any time for good and sufficient cause by the Mayor and Council. The Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector shall not be removed except by a two-thirds vote of the Council. The Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector shall post a bond with the city in such sum as the Mayor and Council may set by resolution.
