10-2-2: RULES OF CONSTRUCTION:
   A.   Tense: Words used in the singular shall include the plural, and in the plural the singular.
   B.   Person: Words used in the present tense shall include the future tense.
   C.   Gender: The masculine gender includes the feminine and the neuter.
   D.   Usage:
      1.   The word "shall" is mandatory and not discretionary.
      2.   The word "may" is permissive.
      3.   The word "lot" shall mean a zoning lot, unless otherwise defined herein.
      4.   The word "structure" shall include the word "building".
      5.   The phrase "used for" shall include the phrases "intended for", "designed for", "occupied for", "maintained for" and "arranged for".
      6.   The word "person" shall include the words "individual", "corporation", "governmental agency", "trust", "estate", "partnership", "association", "ventures", "joint ventures" or any other legal entity.
   E.   Measurements: All measured distances expressed in feet shall be to the nearest foot; if a fraction is one-half foot (1/2') or less, the full number next below shall be used. If a fraction is more than one-half foot (1/2'), the next full number above shall be used.
   F.   Authority: Terms and words, unless otherwise defined herein, shall be as defined in the "American Heritage Dictionary", Second College Edition (Boston; Houghton Mifflin Company, 1982). (Ord. 91-341, 4-2-1991)
