5-1-1: DEFINITIONS:
All definitions that appear in the Illinois department of natural resources' (department) Illinois "Digest Of Hunting And Trapping Regulations", or any successive department publication regarding hunting and trapping activities, are hereby adopted by reference.
FIREARM: Any device, by whatever name known, which is designed to expel a projectile or projectiles by the action of an explosion, expansion of gas or escape of gas; excluding, however:
   A.   Any pneumatic gun, spring gun, paintball gun or BB gun which either expels a single globular projectile not exceeding 0.18 inch in diameter and which has a maximum muzzle velocity of less than seven hundred feet (700') per second or breakable paintballs containing washable marking colors.
   B.   Any device used exclusively for signaling or safety and required or recommended by the United States coast guard or the interstate commerce commission.
   C.   Any device used exclusively for the firing of stud cartridges, explosive rivets or similar industrial ammunition.
SLUG: A heavy lead projectile, that may have precut rifling, intended for use in a shotgun or specialized slug guns and often used to hunt large game animals for which the use of slugs is lawful. Types of slugs may include Brenneke, Foster, Saboted, Plumbata or Steel. (Ord. 2010-835, 12-21-2010)
