Before entering upon the duties of his or her office and within five days after appointment, each officer or member of the Fire Department shall take and subscribe an oath or affirmation to faithfully and impartially discharge duties of his or her appointment as an officer or member of the Fire Department in accordance with the statutes of this state relating to the oath to be taken.
