§ 158.05 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT STATEMENT REQUIREMENTS.
   Statement description. The Sustainable Development Statement is intended to elicit information on the use of various sustainable development practices in the Township. Completion of the statement is required for major subdivision and minor and major site plan applications. Although implementation of the statement items is encouraged, compliance is not a condition of approval unless otherwise specified by law. The completed statement shall include full descriptive answers to all applicable items in the following list:
   (A)   Existing context.
      (1)   Description of the project site as an undeveloped, developed, brownfield, or infill location;
      (2)   Description of the project site as currently served by public transit, pedestrian, or bicycle networks;
      (3)   Description of the project site as currently served by rail (distance) or bus services (distance);
      (4)   Description of any roads within the project site as currently meeting Complete Streets standards;
      (5)   Description of the project site as currently part of a district energy or water infrastructure;
      (6)   Description of the project site as currently part of a regional stormwater management system;
      (7)   Description of the project site as currently integrating:
         (a)   A mix of land use types;
         (b)   Housing diversity by type and income;
         (c)   Land use densities greater than the current zoning or surrounding context;
         (d)   Historic preservation and/or adaptive reuse of existing facilities;
         (e)   Civic and/or public spaces or proximity to them;
         (f)   Recreation facilities and/or green space/parks or proximity to them;
         (g)   Local food production or opportunities for Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) or farmers' markets;
         (h)   Definable natural landscape and/or waterscape features;
         (i) Dedicated federal, state, and/or municipal open space;
         (j)   Any association with an integrated ecological network;
         (k)   Alternative parking designs such as reduced parking ratios, a percentage of compact stalls, banked parking, shared parking, priority parking for low emission vehicles, charging stations, and/or provisions for bicycle storage;
   (B)   Site development.
      (1)   Description the site plan's provisions for:
         (a)   Minimum site disturbance during construction;
         (b)   Increased erosion and sedimentation control beyond statutory requirements;
         (c)   Low impact design features, including, but not limited to, bio-swales, rain gardens, green roofs, pervious pavements, green walls, indigenous plant species, non-invasive plant species, low-maintenance landscaping, and onsite management of vegetative waste;
         (d)   Regenerative design features, including, but not limited to, conservation, restoration, and/or long-term conservation management of habitat, wetlands, or water bodies.
      (2)   Description of the site plan's provisions for minimizing heat island effects through reduced paving, landscaping or other methods;
      (3)   Description of the site plan's provisions for light pollution reduction and energy efficient site lighting and controls;
      (4)   Description of the site plan's provisions for landscape and stormwater maintenance specifications that employ integrated pest management post-bond to assure implementation for five years after occupancy;
      (5)   Description of the site plan's provisions for the inclusion of public art and opportunities for civic events;
      (6)   Description of the site plan's provisions for integrating:
         (a)   A mix of land use types;
         (b)   Housing diversity by type and income;
         (c)   Land use densities greater than the current zoning or surrounding context;
         (d)   Historic preservation and/or adaptive reuse of existing facilities;
         (e)   Civic and/or public spaces;
         (f)   Recreation facilities and/or green space/parks;
         (g)   Local food production or opportunities for Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) or farmers' markets;
         (h)   Preservation of definable natural landscape and/or waterscape features;
         (i)   Dedication of open space and/or conservation easement(s);
         (j)   Alternative parking designs such as reduced parking ratios, a percentage of compact stalls,
banked parking, shared parking, priority parking for low emission vehicles, charging stations, and/or provisions for bicycle storage;
         (k)   A plan for promoting and educating people on green features.
   (C)   Construction and improvements.
      (1)   Construction.
         (a)   Description of the use of Certified Green (LEED) Building criteria;
         (b)   Description of the use of building orientation to maximize benefits of daylighting, view sheds, and energy and to minimize detrimental impacts on surrounding sites;
         (c)   Description of the use of respect for current site scale and context in building design.
      (2)   Water.
         (a)   Description, by percentage, of the reduction in water use beyond minimum water efficiency standards set by the EPA and local government;
         (b)   Description of the use of water conservation features including, but not limited to, low-flow fixtures, waterless urinals, sensor-controlled fixtures, and/or Water Sense-labeled products;
         (c)   Description of the use of rainwater, gray water, and/or storm water capture and re-use;
         (d)   Description of the use of onsite wastewater treatment and ground recharge.
      (3)   Energy.
         (a)   Description of the use of energy usage reduction through efficient heating and cooling, geothermal technology, enhanced daylighting, efficient lighting, occupant controls and/or an efficient building envelope;
         (b)   Description of the use of Energy Star-labeled products;
         (c)   Description of the use of onsite renewable energy generation, including anticipated energy cost savings and carbon emission reductions.
      (4)   Indoor air.
         (a)   Description of the use of natural ventilation and the efficient use of outdoor air during heating and cooling periods;
         (b)   Description of any other measures being used to improve indoor air quality.
      (5)   Materials.
         (a)   Description of the construction waste management plans in place;
         (b)   Description of the solid waste management plans in place;
         (c)   Description, by material and percentage, of the reuse of existing building materials;
         (d)   Description of the use of new building materials containing recycled content;
         (e)   Description of the use of new building materials sourced within the region (distance).
      (6)   Social.
         (a)   Description of the implementation of indigenously inspired art in the landscape (rate of one installation per building or per residential units).
   (D)   General. Description of any other steps heretofore unmentioned to promote green building and sustainable development practices.
