§ 30.030 APPOINTMENT.
   (A)   If the Township Solicitor should be conflicted with respect to any matter, the governing body may duly appoint special counsel, from time to time, to represent the township with respect to such matters, within available appropriations.
   (B)   Under such circumstances, the Township Administrator shall have the authority, subject to the approval of the Township Committee, to assign and engage additional or special counsel, to aid in the performance of the functions of the township legal matters including the preparation, trial or appeal of the cases in which the township may be a party or be interested, as he or she may deem necessary. A form of contract shall be prepared by the Township Solicitor, prior to the engagement of special counsel, setting forth the terms and conditions of employment and shall include a schedule of compensation as well as the obligation to provide periodic and/or interim status reports to enable the Township Committee to remain current with respect to the status of any legal matter so assigned.
   (C)   Nothing herein shall be intended to confer an obligation to select special counsel for insurance related matters where the township’s insurance carrier has reserved the right to select appropriate counsel.
