For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
LONGITUDINAL OPENING. Any opening, ditch or excavation in any improved street or road made for the purpose of installing any pipe, wire or conduit, or for any other purpose, where the opening is made parallel to the longitudinal axis of the road. Any opening in excess of 30 feet in length shall be classified as a LONGITUDINAL OPENING.
PERSONS. Individuals, firms, partnerships, corporations and unincorporated associations.
TRANSVERSE STREET OPENING. Any opening, ditch or excavation in any improved street or road made for the purpose of installing any pipe, wire or conduit, or for any other purpose, where the opening is made at right angles or nearly at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the street or road.
