§ 72.06 FIRE ZONES.
   (A)   Purpose. The purpose of this section is to establish certain areas that are private property which are open to the public or to which the public is invited as “Parking Fire Zones.” No person shall be permitted to park in these zones. This is to provide for the access of fire and other emergency response equipment to these areas to safeguard the public safety and welfare.

   (B)   Statutory authority. This section is enacted in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:48-2.46.

   (C)   Designation. Fire zones shall be established on all properties listed and identified in Chapter 74, Schedule V, which fire zones shall be marked by signs indicating “No Parking Fire Zone.” Such zones shall be in conformance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, adopted March 20, 1973, and filed with the State Department of Transportation on March 21, 1973. The owners of such properties shall be responsible for the installation, maintenance and upkeep of any and all such signs and devices called for in this section.

   (D)   Records to be kept. The Police Department is hereby empowered and directed to maintain a record of fire zone locations, to which record additional locations may be added as approved by the Planning Board.

   (E)   Parking prohibited. No person shall park a vehicle at any time in or upon any of the fire zones or parts thereof as described in Chapter 74, Schedule V.

   (F)   Exceptions. Nothing in this section shall prevent an authorized emergency vehicle from parking in these fire zones while on official business or enforcing the provisions of this section.
