A. Compliance Required: It shall be unlawful for any person to own, operate or control any building within the city unless said building meets such fire safety standards as may be promulgated from time to time by the state fire marshal.
B. Enforcement:
1. The fire chief is hereby authorized to post and deny occupancy to any building deemed by the fire chief to fail to meet such standards as promulgated from time to time by the state fire marshal. The substance of said notice shall be as follows:
You are hereby notified that this building is in violation of fire safety standards pursuant to regulations of the Fire Marshal of the State of Illinois and occupancy or use of this building is hereby prohibited.
2. All such notices shall be personally delivered or sent by certified mail to the owner of record and any tenant of any such building by the fire chief. Each owner or occupant shall be given not less than three (3) days' notice prior to the effective date denying the right to occupy said building. (Ord., 12-7-1992)
