A. All owners or occupants of buildings, stores or residences now erected or which may be hereafter erected within the city are hereby required to number their buildings, stores or residences in conformity with the provisions of this chapter, and any owner or occupant of any building, store or residence now erected or hereafter to be erected who shall fail to number said building, store or residence as aforesaid, within ten (10) days after receiving notice of the number assigned to said building, store or residence or who shall number any building, store or residence otherwise than in accordance with the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to a fine as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code for each offense. B. Any person now having on a building, store or residence another number than the one required by this chapter may, upon return of his number to the city clerk, procure the number which properly belongs to his building, store or residence. (1925 Code § 36-7; amd. 2009 Code)
