A. Water Rates And Charges:
1. User Rates: Commencing with the May, 2019 billing cycle and each month billing cycle thereafter, the following shall be the rates for water furnished to all water customers except as provided for by separate contract:
a. For the first one thousand (1,000) gallons per month or fraction thereof, a minimum charge of thirty eight dollars ($38.00) for residential and commercial customers.
b. The rate for use exceeding one thousand (1,000) gallons per month for residential and commercial customers shall be eight dollars fifty cents ($8.50) per thousand gallons used.
c. Rates may be changed thereafter by resolution of the City Council. (Ord. 2019-02, 4-11-2019)
2. Service Charges:
(1) After written application or verbal request, or for nonpayment of a bill, water service will be turned off at the earliest time convenient to the City, and the customer will be billed a shutoff charge of fifty dollars ($50.00).
(2) In the case of an emergency, as determined by the City Public Works Director, there shall be no charge incurred by the customer for shutoff of water service.
b. Turn On 2 : After written application or verbal request, water service will be turned on at the earliest time convenient to the City, and the customer will be billed a turn on fee of fifty dollars ($50.00).
c. Additional Reconnection Requirements: In addition to the turn on fee, any customer whose service was shut off as a result of nonpayment shall be required to pay all outstanding charges and penalties, and any deposit required by the City before service will be restored.
B. Sewer Rates: The following shall be the rates for sewer furnished to all sewerage customers within the corporate limits: (Ord. 07-06, 6-11-2007)
1. For up to the first two thousand (2,000) gallons per month or fraction thereof, a minimum charge of six dollars ($6.00) shall be charged for residential and commercial customers.
2. The rate for over two thousand (2,000) gallons per month for residential and commercial customers shall be two dollars seventy five cents ($2.75) per thousand gallons or fraction thereof. (Ord. 2015-15-04, 5-11-2015)
C. Water Meter Replacement Fee: Each water user shall be assessed a water meter replacement fee of five dollars ($5.00) per month in addition to any and all other charges provided herein. This fee shall terminate upon the City paying the total principal and interest incurred for the replacement of all water meters in the City of Virginia. (Ord. 2016-4, 6-13-2016)
