(A) Pay period. All employees will be paid biweekly.
(B) Payroll deductions. Deductions from pay checks will include:
(1) Mandatory: Federal, state and local taxes, and insurance premium contributions established in the annual budget by the common council.
(2) Voluntary: Savings bonds, insurance premiums or any other deductions will be deducted from the pay check upon written authorization by the employee.
(C) Work schedule. The following schedule shall apply to all employees except those on the Fire Department and the Police Department. The designated hours of work for each department will be recommended by the Superintendent or chief with approval from the Board of Public Works and Safety or either Governing Board.
(1) Eight hours shall constitute a legal day's work for all employees.
(2) There will be a 60 minute lunch period, unless recommended differently by the superintendent or chief, with approval from the Board of Public Works and Safety or other governing Board. In those instances where the employee is unable to take scheduled lunch break, special arrangements will be made by the Superintendent or chief to ensure that the employee will have the opportunity to eat lunch.
(3) A 15 minute rest period will be allowed the employee in each half shift.
(4) An employee shall be paid overtime for any hours worked more than 40 hours, within a seven day work week. At the option of the city, the employee shall be paid time and one-half for all overtime, or given one and one-half hours off in lieu of payment for overtime worked.
(5) Exempt from overtime pay are elected officials, appointees, advisors and personnel staff members.
(6) Members of the Fire Department shall work 24 hour shifts and a total of 212 hours in each 28-day period. They will be paid overtime pay or compensatory time for any hours worked in excess of 212 in any 28-day period.
(7) Members of the Police Department shall work eight hour days on a schedule of five days work and two days off and five days work and three days off. They will be paid overtime or given comp time for any hours worked in excess of 40 hours in any said work period.
(8) Members of the Police Radio Dispatch Department shall work eight hour days on a schedule of five days work and two days off. They will be paid overtime or given comp time, at the discretion of the city, for any hours work in excess of 40 hours in any said work period.
In addition, each member shall receive one day off per month to be scheduled at the discretion of the Vincennes Police Chief and which shall be in lieu of holidays.
