§ 33.05  PART-TIME MEMBERS OF POLICE DEPARTMENT; HIRING STANDARDS.
   (A)   Part-time police officers of the Villa Grove Police Department shall meet the following requirements prior to being hired:
      (1)   Must be at least 21 years of age;
      (2)   Must be a high school graduate or equivalent;
      (3)   Must have a current and valid motor vehicle operator’s license;
      (4)   Must not have been convicted of a felony or any other crime involving moral turpitude;
      (5)   Must submit fingerprints to the Chief of Police for background check by Illinois State Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation;
      (6)   Must be legally eligible to possess and carry firearms and ammunition and not restricted from possession of a firearm under the Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968;
      (7)   All police officers, other than those officers who shall be employed on a full-time basis, shall be qualified to enter and successfully complete any training mandated by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board;
      (8)   Must be of good moral character, of temperate habits, of sound health, and physically and mentally able to perform assigned duties;
      (9)   Must pass a medical examination;
      (10)   Any individual who has served in the U.S. military must have been honorably discharged.
   (B)   In addition, the part-time police officers shall not be assigned to supervise or direct full-time police officers and shall not be used as permanent replacements for permanent full-time police officers.
   (C)   A part-time police officer shall have all the responsibilities of a full-time police officer and such specific duties as delineated in the General Orders of the Village Grove Police Department, but the number of hours a part-time officer may work within a calendar year is restricted.
