§ 31.16  SALARIES OF ELECTED OFFICIALS.
   (A)   Salaries of Aldermen. 
      (1)   The salary of each Alderman of the city shall be fixed at $150 for each regular or special meeting the Alderman shall attend. Regular meetings shall be designated as either a Committee-of-the-Whole meeting where no binding vote shall take place or a general meeting of the Council where voting shall take place. Alderman shall not be paid for attending more than one Committee-of-the-Whole per month.Effective the first regular meeting in May following the April 2019 election, the salary of each Alderman, as to any Alderman whose term of office commences on or after May 13, 2019, shall be fixed at $150 for each regular meeting or special meeting of the Council. At any point in the future that such regular general meetings be reduced in quantity to one meeting per month, the salary of each Alderman shall be fixed at $150 for one Committee-of-the-Whole meeting per month. The salaries shall be paid in accordance with state statutes.
      (2)   Provided, however, that each Alderman elected or appointed after the April 2017 election shall be paid his or her per meeting salary for up to 3 regular, special or Committee-of-the- Whole meetings cumulatively each fiscal year even though he or she did not attend the meetings. If an Alderman serves less than the entire fiscal year, his or her salary for non-attended meetings shall be prorated.
   (B)   Salary of Mayor.  The salary of the Mayor of the city shall be fixed at $3,500 per  fiscal year. Effective the first meeting in May following the April 2017 election, the  salary of the Mayor of the city, as to a Mayor elected or appointed after May 8, 2017, shall be fixed at $5,000 per year. The increased salary shall be paid in accordance with state statutes.
   (C)   Salary of City Clerk.  The salary of the City Clerk shall be fixed at $275 per month, for a total of $3,300 per year.
   (D)   Allocation of funds. The salaries herein provided shall be paid on a monthly basis. Any salary paid to an incoming or outgoing Mayor or City Clerk shall be prorated according to the number of days served in the month affected. All salaries will be paid from the General Fund of the city.
