(a) Number, Qualifications and Appointment. Council shall appoint to the Vienna Public Library Board of Directors three qualified persons chosen from the residents of the City of Vienna. To assist Council in the appointments, the Mayor shall submit to Council prospective candidates. (Ord. 06-17. Passed 8-10-17.)
(b) Term.
(1) The term of office of each of the members of the Board shall be for five years from the first day of July following their appointment and until their successors are appointed and qualified.
(2) Notwithstanding the foregoing, upon their first appointment under this article, one member shall be appointed for one year, expiring June 30, 1968; one member shall be appointed for two years, expiring June 30, 1969; one member shall be appointed for three years, expiring June 30, 1970; one member shall be appointed for four years, expiring June 30, 1971; and one member shall be appointed for five years, expiring June 30, 1972.
(c) Vacancies. Vacancies in the Board shall be immediately reported by the Board to Council and filled by appointment by Council, and, if an unexpired term, for the remainder of the term only.
(d) Removal. A director may be removed for just cause in the manner as is provided for in the bylaws of the Board.
(e) Compensation. No compensation shall be paid or allowed any director.
