§ 33.01 ESTABLISHING RESERVE POLICE OFFICERS.
   (A)   Appointment. The Town Council may appoint as many reserve police officers as is reasonable to protect the citizens of the town. All said reserve police officers appointed by the Town Council will be subject to the personnel plan established by, and for, the town and all other rules and regulations as is contained herein.
   (B)   Powers and duties.
      (1)   Reserve police officers may not be members of the regular Police Department, but will have all the same police powers and duties as regular members, with the exception that reserve officers will have jurisdiction only within the state, unless in pursuit.
      (2)   Reserve officers will fill in for regular police officers when on vacation or sick leave, and reserve officers may be utilized when extra man power is needed.
      (3)   Reserve officers will serve the public and uphold the laws of the United States of America, the state, and the town.
      (4)   Reserve officers are not eligible to participate in any pension program provided for regular members of the Police Department.
   (C)   Qualifications.
      (1)   Upon appointment, a reserve office must complete immediate instruction proper procedure and documentation requirements.
      (2)   There will be a minimum probationary period of 365 days, during which time a reserve officer must fulfill the following requirements:
         (a)   Complete the State Law Enforcement Academy Pre-Basic Course; and
         (b)   Be trained by a field training officer for 12 weeks.
