(A) Upon impoundment of a cat without identification, the Animal Control Officer shall put a written notice in the animal control log located in the Police Department describing the cat, stating the approximate time and place where the cat was apprehended, where the cat is being kept, and how the same may be recovered by the owner. Unless the cat is recovered by the owner, the cat may be adopted, turned over to the Humane Society or euthanized after the expiration of 7 days from the time when notice of apprehension and impoundment was given or posted.
(B) If it is determined by 2 authorized people, e.g., police officer and Animal Control Officer, that the cat is uncontrollably wild, vicious, or visibly showing signs of a contagious illness, which may endanger the health, safety, or well-being of the handlers, or other animals being held at the animal shelter, the 7-day limitation shall become void, and appropriate action will be taken.
