§ 70.028 BICYCLE TRAILS AND ROUTES AUTHORIZED.
   (A)   It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police to cause to be placed and maintained, at the places as he or she deems it necessary for the safety of pedestrians and operators of bicycles and tricycles entering, traveling upon, or exiting from bikeways, bicycle trails, designated bicycle lanes, and bicycle routes and for the protection of bicycle trails from the intrusion of heavy vehicles or equipment, appropriate signs of standard design controlling pedestrian, bicycle, and tricycle travel on the bikeways, bicycle trails, designated bicycle lanes, and bicycle routes and controlling both vehicular and bicycle traffic on, across, or adjacent to any such bikeway, bicycle trail, designated bicycle lane, or bicycle route.
   (B)   Any sign or signal intended to direct and control the operation of bicycles and tricycles only shall be of substantially the same form and design as a comparable sign or signal intended to direct and control in like manner the operation of motor vehicles on the public highways, except that the sign or signal may have printed thereon the word “bicycle” or drawn thereon the standard bicycle symbol.
