252.09 HOLIDAYS.
   (a)   Police Division Employees. As used in this subsection, a full-time member of the Police Division is one whose regular work week is at least forty hours and who is paid on a monthly or annual salary basis or on an hourly basis. For the purposes of this subsection, Police Dispatchers are considered to be members of the Division.
   All full-time members of the Division shall be paid their regular rate of pay for ten paid holidays per year. Such holidays shall be selected by the Director of Public Safety.

   (b)   Labor Union Employees. As used in this subsection, a full-time employee of the City is one whose regular work week is at least forty hours and who is paid on a monthly or annual salary basis or on an hourly basis.
   All full-time employees who are members of the Laborers' International Union of North America, Local 1283, shall be paid their regular rate of pay for ten paid holidays per year. Such holidays are:
         New Year's Day
         Martin Luther King Day
         Presidents' Day
         Memorial Day
         Independence Day
         Labor Day
         Columbus Day
         Thanksgiving
         The day following Thanksgiving
         Veterans' Day
         Christmas Day
 
   The following holidays will be celebrated on the Monday which has been designated as the day of observance by the Congressional Act of 1971: Presidents' Day, Memorial Day and Columbus Day.
 
   (c)   Nonunion Employees Who Are Not Members of the Safety Forces. As used in this subsection, a full-time employee of the City is one whose regular work week is at least forty hours and who is paid on a monthly or annual salary basis or on an hourly basis. For the purposes of this subsection, a nonunion City employee who is also not a member of the safety forces is any full-time employee who is not a member of the Police Division (including dispatchers) and who is not a member of the Laborers' International Union of North America, Local 1283.
   All full-time employees who are nonunion and who are also not members of the safety forces shall be paid their regular rate of pay for eleven paid holidays per year. Such holiday shall be selected by the Director of Public Service, the Director of Finance, the Judge of the Vermilion Municipal Court and the Mayor, for their respective departments.     All seasonal employees are specifically excluded from receiving any paid holiday time.

   (d)   Holiday Overtime Compensation. Exclusive of personnel within the Public Safety Department, any regular full-time employee of the City who is regularly scheduled to work in the service of the City, or who must work upon an emergency basis on any one or more of the officially designated holidays of the City, shall be compensated for such holiday employment at the rate of one and one-half times his or her regular hourly wage.
   Regular employment assignments and emergency service shall be determined by the director of the respective departments and/or the Mayor and shall be approved by them. (Ord. 78-32. Passed 3-6-78.)
