(a) Within the Department of Public Service, Utilities Division, there is hereby established the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Mechanic, who shall be appointed by the Mayor after recommendation by the Utilities Manager and who shall be under the general supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. The Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing work involving construction, maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities at the wastewater treatment plant and wastewater pumping stations and for performing related tasks as required by the Operator or the Utilities Manager.
(b) The Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Mechanic shall possess considerable knowledge of construction, maintenance methods, equipment and materials commonly found in wastewater treatment facility and wastewater pumping stations. He or she shall possess the ability to read and interpret equipment maintenance instructions and engineering detail design drawings.
(c) The Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Mechanic shall be within the classified civil service of the City and shall continue to hold all previous protections, benefits, duties and responsibilities thereinunder if transferring from another classified job description. A copy hereof shall be served upon the Civil Service Commission by the Clerk of Council. (Ord. 81-25. Passed 3-16-81.)
(d) The Finance Director is hereby authorized and directed to compensate the Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Mechanic, from both the Water and Sewer Funds, in accordance with Range 11 of the Salary and Wage Schedule of the City at a step established by the Mayor.
