No person shall, by himself or herself, by another person or otherwise, directly or indirectly, give any prize, award, merchandise, gift or anything of value to any player or operator of any mechanical or electrically operated amusement device, or to any contestant, for a high score on the device. This section shall not preclude the normal free plays provided by mechanical or electrically operated amusement devices.
