876.06 RULES FOR SHOOTING RANGES.
   (a)   The following rules shall apply to all shooting ranges.
      (1)   The hours of operation for indoor shooting at a shooting range shall be from no sooner than 7:00 a.m. to no later than 11:00 p.m. daily. The hours of operation for outdoor shooting at a shooting range shall be no sooner than 9:00 a.m. and no later than 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and no sooner than 10:00 a.m. and no later than 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
      (2)   All indoor shooting at a shooting range shall be within a fully enclosed structure equipped with all necessary fixtures or apparatus to prevent the sound of the shooting to be audible from outside of the building.
      (3)   Any shooting lanes for outdoor shooting with a distance of less than forty yards from the shooting position to the backstop shall have a backdrop of at least thirty vertical feet. Any shooting lanes with a distance of forty yards or greater from the shooting position to the backstop must qualify as a no-blue-sky range and have a backstop of at least forty vertical feet on the property of the shooting range.
      (4)   Tracer and explosive rounds and explosive targets shall not be used.
      (5)   Automatic weapons and any weapons above .30-06 caliber or 12 gauge shall not be used for outdoor shooting.
      (6)   No shooting from moving vehicles.
      (7)   Loading weapons shall be only on the range or benches.
      (8)   All shooters must wear eye and ear protection while at a shooting lane.
      (9)   Shooters may use only ranges that are designated for their specific type of shooting activity (trap range, pistol range, and rifle range).
      (10)   At all times all shooters must be supervised by a range officer certified by the National Rifle Association, the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy, or another equivalent certifying organization, and at a ratio of no more than eight shooters per range officer on any given range.
      (11)   No person shall shoot in any direction other than from the firing lane down range to the target.
      (12)   Any and all projectiles from shooting or archery must be confined to the property where the shooting range is located.
   (b)   A copy of these rules shall be posted at conspicuous places at the shooting range.
   (c)   The responsible person shall be responsible for compliance of the rules contained in this section. In addition, no person shooting at a shooting range shall violate any provision in divisions (a)(4) through (a)(12) of this section.
   (d)   Whoever violates a provision in division (a)(1) through (a)(12) of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. Organizational liability may apply to violations as set forth in Section 876.09.
