No person in the employment of the City of Vandalia or seeking employment thereto, shall be employed, reduced, or removed, or in any way favored, or discriminated against, because of political opinions or affiliations or because of race, color, or religious belief.
No employee of the City of Vandalia shall directly or indirectly solicit or receive from any officer or employee of the City any assessment, subscription, or contribution for any political party or political purpose whatever.
Neither the Mayor nor any Councilmember shall knowingly solicit or accept from any employee of the City any financial contribution for any political party or political purpose whatever.
No employees of the municipal government may engage in political campaigns (other than his or her own) in which candidates for the office of this municipality are involved further than to cast his or her vote or to express privately his or her opinions.
Any person guilty of violating any of the above provisions may be dismissed from his or her position.
