Whenever the Inspector of Buildings determines that a building or structure, or any work in connection therewith, the erection, construction, alteration, moving, removing or demolition of which is regulated, permitted or prohibited by this Building Code, is being erected, constructed, altered, moved, removed or demolished in violation of any of the provisions of this Building Code or in violation of any detailed statement or plan submitted and approved under this Building Code, he may serve a written notice or order upon the person responsible therefor, directing discontinuance of such illegal action and the remedying of the condition that is in violation of any of the provisions of this Building Code.
