(a) The Mayor does hereby have the authority to hire certified residential building inspectors, certified residential plumbing inspectors and/or certified residential electrical inspectors as directed by Council via majority vote. Said inspectors shall operate as independent contractors on a case-by-case basis, with compensation set by Council.
(b) Said inspectors shall work under and be subject to the supervision of the Building Commissioner and shall perform such duties as may be delegated to him by the Building Commissioner. Unless directed by the Commissioner, contract inspectors shall use their own transportation to perform their duties, with proper insurance.
