The Building Commissioner shall be appointed by a majority of Council, for a term as determined from time to time by ordinance. The full-time Building Commissioner will be required to normally have daily office hours. All certification renewals shall be paid by the Village. The Building Commissioner is subject to the OPERS Rules and Regulations and is eligible for paid health care from the Village. He shall give bond to the Village conditioned on the faithful performance of his duties, in the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) which bond and the surety thereon shall be approved by the Mayor. The Commissioner shall not be removed from office during his term, except for cause after he has been given full opportunity to be heard on specific charges. During the temporary absence or disability of the Commissioner; Council, by majority vote, shall designate a substitute to act in matters that require prompt official attention. The pay rate beginning February 13, 2012 shall be twenty-six dollars and forty-five cents ($26.45) per hour. The Building Commissioner shall also receive a four hundred dollar ($400.00) per year clothing allowance.
