272.01 ESTABLISHMENT; DUTIES; MEMBERSHIP.
   Effective January 1, 1996, a Recreation Board is hereby authorized and established, vested with authority to supervise and maintain playgrounds, playfields, gymnasiums, public baths, swimming pools and indoor recreation centers, and possessed of all the powers and subject to all the responsibilities imposed upon it by law, the Village ordinances and the directions of Council. Such Board shall consist of five persons. The members of the Board shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of Council. All members of the Board shall serve terms of two years. Terms shall be staggered with the appointment of two members the first year and the remaining three members the following year. Members of such Board shall receive compensation of thirteen hundred dollars ($1,300.00) per year, payable in December of each year. Vacancies in the Board, occurring otherwise than by expiration of terms, shall be for the unexpired term and shall be filled in the same manner as for original appointments.
