250.04 CLOTHING ALLOWANCES.
   (a)   Any monetary allowance authorized by Council from time to time for the purchase of required clothing for the Chief of Police, Patrolmen and part-time Patrolmen, the Fire Chief and full-time and volunteer firemen, shall be in addition to their regular compensation and compensation provided for in this chapter.

   (b)   Commencing July 1, 2011, the following clothing allowance is established for the employees of the Village:
      (1)   Newly hired part-time police recruits will receive compensation sufficient to pay for all clothing and equipment set forth in Exhibit “A” which is attached as an appendix to this chapter. This shall be their clothing allowance for the first year of employment.
      (2)   Part-time members of the Police Department, excepting newly hired recruits, are to receive five hundred dollars ($500.00) per year clothing allowance.
      (3)   Newly hired part-time firemen will receive compensation sufficient to pay for all clothing and equipment set forth in Exhibit "B" attached as an appendix to this chapter. All other necessary equipment will be provided by the Village. This shall be their clothing allowance for the first year of employment.
      (4)   Part-time members of the Fire Department, excepting newly hired recruits, are to receive four hundred dollars ($400.00) per year clothing allowance.
      (5)   Effective July 1, 2011 all full-time service and groundskeepers employees are to receive seven hundred dollars ($700.00) per year clothing allowance with the following stipulation: part-time service and part-time groundskeepers employees will receive two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) after being employed for six months and two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) for every future six months they are employed, up to a maximum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per year.
      (6)   All employees shall use their clothing allowance within the current calendar year. Employees who overspend their allowance shall re-pay the Village within the thirty days of the billing by the Village.

   (c)   When a full-time member of any of the above departments also performs services as a part-time member of the department in which he or she is employed full time, then he or she will receive only the clothing allowance set forth for full-time employees.
   (d)   When a full-time member of a department is also a part-time employee of one of the other departments and the clothing required is different for the part-time job, then that employee will receive both the full-time allowance and the part-time allowance.
   (e)   The supervisor or officer-in-charge shall have the authority to send any employee or officer home for the day if he or she reports to work not properly dressed in the required uniform or not properly groomed. Said employee will not receive compensation for that particular day.
