4-3-3: PROCEDURE:
   A.   Not Affected: When a licensed veterinarian files a written report with the Valley County sheriff's office indicating that a quarantined animal is not affected by rabies, said sheriff or deputy shall terminate the quarantine by written permission and the owner may reclaim the animal after the expense liability provisions outlined in section 4-3-4 of this chapter have been satisfied.
   B.   Affected Or Suspected Of Being Rabid: When an animal under quarantine has been diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian as being rabid or suspected of being rabid, the sheriff or deputy shall cause the immediate destruction of the affected animal, shall send the head of such animal to the health department for pathological examination, and shall notify the proper public health officer of reports of human contacts and the diagnosis made of the animal.
   C.   Exposure To Rabid Animal: Any animal bitten by or exposed to an animal adjudged to be rabid shall be quarantined in accordance with subsections A and B of this section and section 4-3-2 of this chapter. (Ord. 86-2, 8-11-1986)
