(A) Age of animal; term of license. It shall be unlawful for the owner of any dog over the age of three months to fail to obtain a valid Eagle County dog license after the dog has been kept in the town for any consecutive 14-day period within any calendar year or immediately upon citation for any violation of this chapter. The owner shall obtain a dog license for each calendar year. Dog licenses shall expire on December 31 of the year for which they are issued. Proof of current rabies registration with efficacy extending through the license period and payment of the license fee shall be required before any license is issued.
(B) Fees; exemption. The license fees shall be set annually by the Town Manager. Dogs kept as part of the operation of a pet animal facility licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture or the Colorado Department of Agriculture pursuant to the provisions of C.R.S. Title 35, Article 80 shall be exempt from the licensing provisions of this chapter. Such dogs shall not be exempt from the rabies registration requirements of this chapter.
