For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ACCOMMODATION UNIT. Any room or group of rooms without kitchen facilities designed for or adapted to occupancy by guests and accessible from common corridors, walks or balconies without passing through another accommodation unit or dwelling unit.
CERTIFIED SOLID FUEL BURNING DEVICE. A solid fuel burning device which is certified by the Environmental Protection Agency and by the Air Pollution Control Division of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to produce not more than four and five-tenths grams of particulates per hour, or to meet the current Environmental Protection Agency standard, whichever is more restrictive. This shall include both catalytic and noncatalytic phase II stoves as well as pellet burners and any other technology which can be shown to meet these emission criteria.
COMMON AREA. The lobby of any lodge (as that term is defined in Title 12, Chapter 2 of this code), the area of any condominium project available for the common use of all the unit owners and restaurants and bars.
DWELLING UNIT. Any room or group of rooms in a single-family, two-family or multiple-family dwelling with kitchen facilities designed for or used by one family as an independent housekeeping unit.
EMPLOYEE HOUSING UNIT. A dwelling unit which shall not be owner occupied, leased or rented for any period less than 30 consecutive days, and shall be occupied by at least one person who is an employee. For the purposes of this definition EMPLOYEE shall mean a person who works an average of 30 hours per week or more on a year round basis in Eagle County, Colorado.
GAS APPLIANCE. A fully self-contained, Underwriter’s Laboratories, Inc. (UL) listed and American Gas Association (AGA) “fireplace” unit which does not require venting through a chimney and which does not permit the use of solid fuel.
GAS LOG FIREPLACE. A fireplace as defined herein equipped with an AGA and UL listed artificial log unit which is approved for the burning of natural gas.
REFUSE. All solid wastes, garbage and rubbish, whether combustible or noncombustible, including rubble.
SOLID FUEL BURNING DEVICE. Any fireplace, stove, firebox or device intended and/or used for the purpose of burning wood, pulp, paper or other nonliquid or nongaseous fuel.
WOOD BURNING FIREPLACE. An open hearth or fire chamber or similar prepared place in which a fire may be made and which is built in conjunction with a chimney.
