(A) Requirements. Underground warning tape shall be required in all utility trenches within town rights-of-way (ROWs) and easements. When replacing or repairing existing lines, warning tape shall be added during backfill. Service lines also require warning tape within the ROW.
(B) Location. The tape shall be placed approximately half way between the top of the pipe and the surface. The town will inspect placement at this time.
(C) Type of warning tape. The underground warning tape shall be six inches wide, four one-hundredths inch thick, and have the type of utility printed on the tape. Each utility shall use a specific color as listed below:
