(a) Regular officers of the Police Department shall be approved by the Chief of Police and appointed by the Mayor, to serve until removed for cause, until retirement or until a resignation submitted by such officer shall be accepted by the Chief of Police.
(b) Auxiliary officers of the Department shall be approved by the Chief of Police and appointed by the Mayor, to serve as long as directed, or until a resignation submitted by such officer shall be accepted by the Chief of Police.
(c) All appointments shall be subject to the probationary period set forth in Ohio R.C. 737.17.
